Sensory Repatterning
The Series: Levels 1-4
with Elizabeth Jacobowitz
Imagine feeling rocked gently by the ocean’s waves, while cradled by your practitioner’s hands. Imagine the sensation of an effortless dance as your body flows through beautiful undulations, and full, graceful, slow ranges of motion. In Sensory Repatterning, the bodywork practitioner uses playful passive joint movements to draw out your own natural rhythm, as you drift, melt, and let go.
Sensory Repatterning activates the parasympathetic nervous system, inviting clients to enter a deeply relaxing meditative state. Some have called it “a massage from the inside out,” as the movement of the skeleton elongates the attached muscles and gives a sense of expansion. This physical experience also allows the emotional and mental bodies to open. Motion creates feeling, thus connecting us to our core and to our primal experience of love: the sensation of being rocked in the womb.
Increased circulation and lymph flow, improved joint health and range of motion are just some of the physiological benefits of Sensory Repatterning. Even more impactful is the heightened sense of freedom in our clients, inviting creativity and joy into their lives.
Upcoming Classes
Sensory Repatterning 1
Students learn an amazingly effective 45-minute choreography (a.k.a. recipe, flow, or treatment) that includes both undulations and slow motion. Emphasis is on the quality of touch and the elegance of movement around the table to create a sense of trust and safety in the client. Sensory Repatterning in turn increases confidence and grace in the student when moving a client’s body. The artistry of Sensory Repatterning sets practitioners apart from other bodyworkers.
Sensory Repatterning 2
Students will have the opportunity to refine their techniques and learn more than 40 additional moves, including undulations for the anterior legs. Focus is on vision, intention, sensitivity, and rhythm to improve the artistic skills of the integrative bodyworker. This is amazing, delicious, and profound play that will take your current skills to a whole new level.
Sensory Repatterning 3
Students will continue to deepen their relationship to this unique modality. Refinement of techniques learned in earlier classes, plus new applications for abdomen, chest, and thorax. In this class, we also explore concepts of healing through creative artwork.
Sensory Repatterning 4
In the final class of this series, we’ll add more than 50 advanced moves to our repertoire while we continue to expand and refine technique. Dreamwork and expressive arts exploration further develop the practitioner’s ability to self-reflect, listen, and empathize—skills essential for a professional bodyworker in the somato-emotional field.
